With assistance from the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), AEROTHAI, and Satun Province, the industry leader in drone delivery, Skyports Drone Services, has completed a medical drone delivery demonstration for Thailand’s Medical UAV Committee, which is made up of representatives from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), the Ministry of Public Health, and the Department of Medical Services. This comes after the business recently obtained BVLOS authorization from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT).

“With the successful conclusion of this demonstration, we see the strong potential of drone delivery services for helping people in need,” stated Dr. Sophon Mekthana, Assistant Minister of Public Health and Committee Chairman. If a calamity strikes, drones may be used to help medical and humanitarian efforts. “Even people living in the most distant villages can quickly obtain medications and medical supplies to receive timely care. When necessary, we will be able to deliver medical supplies, vaccinations, and blood, and we will be able to apply the lessons learned from this demonstration to other regions of the country in the future.

The aircraft, which took off from Ratchakit Prakan Stadium close to Satun Hospital and flew to a landing zone close to Puyu Health Centre, was carrying a 3kg cargo of medical samples. The plane travelled almost 12 km in less than seven minutes. Normally, it would take 55 minutes to complete a delivery by vehicle and boat.

According to Skyports Drone Services APAC General Manager Sanjay Suresh, “Today’s demonstration is a crucial first step in demonstrating the real benefits of medical drone delivery services to local authorities and healthcare organisations.” “By leveraging the knowledge and experience of our international operations, we are able to apply our thoroughly tested procedures and tried-and-true operations to Thailand’s distinctive geography and show the efficacy of our work. Medical drone delivery networks will aid Thailand’s healthcare industry in its attempts to provide patients with greater accessibility and timeliness when they are securely implemented at scale.

The test shows how well BVLOS medical drone deliveries can transport supplies to remote areas of the nation. In order to support Thailand’s efforts to increase access to critical medical services using drone delivery technology, Skyports Drone Services is dedicated to continuing its work with the Ministry of Public Health, as well as with the country’s regulators and authorities. This also represents the company’s entry into Thailand after a fruitful year of extending its reach into both established and emerging countries like Japan, Singapore, and Korea.
